Tay Ninh sharing experiences on the value chain of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice (Vietnamese)

Nguyen Minh Lam, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province; Bui Ba Bong, Chairman of the Vietnam Rice Industry Association; and representatives from units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of provinces in the Mekong Delta region such as An Giang, Ca Mau, etc., attended the event.
The event is part of the Sustainable Development Project for 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation linked to green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030.
At the Go Gon Agricultural Cooperative's fields, delegates and farmers observed demonstrations of various technologies in production according to the 1 million hectare project process, such as harvesting rice with combine harvesters; mechanizing straw collection to create raw materials for other uses in the circular economy; and tilling and burying straw combined with the use of biological products, contributing to improving soil fertility, limiting straw burning in the fields, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Demonstrating various technologies in production processes under the 1 million hectare project
Tay Ninh province is participating in the project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation in the Mekong Delta by 2030, with 114,000 hectares involving 47,250 households and implemented across 25 communes and wards. To date, the province has implemented 13 model projects covering an area of 268 hectares.
For the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring crop season, the Tay Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment, along with the International Rice Research Institute, is starting a project at the Go Gon Agricultural Cooperative, which will cover 53 hectares and involve 11 households, producing high-quality, low-emission rice.

Nguyen Minh Lam, a member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province, highlighted: “This event shows that using technology in rice production works well and provides a scientific basis for suggesting that this model be used more widely in the Sustainable Development Project of 1 million hectares.” This is also an important opportunity for the province and neighboring provinces to listen to the guidance and direction of the Ministry and relevant units to implement the Project in the future, thereby contributing to the development of rice production towards green agriculture, circular economy and sustainability”./.
