Tay Ninh promoting energy saving and efficiency (Vietnamese)
Saving electricity through practical actions
In recent times, using electricity in a safe, efficient, and economical manner has been a focus of attention for many agencies, businesses, and households in the province. Through awareness campaigns by the Department of Industry and Trade and the Electricity sector, people's awareness of electricity saving has steadily improved. Many households have proactively changed their living habits, such as turning off electrical appliances when not in use, utilizing natural light, and using energy-efficient appliances. Replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs, setting air conditioners to reasonable temperatures, and limiting the use of multiple appliances simultaneously during peak hours are gradually becoming common practices for many families.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hung (residing in Tan An Ward) shared: “Previously, my family didn't pay much attention to electricity saving, but after the awareness campaign, everyone in the house has changed their habits, such as turning off lights when leaving a room, using LED bulbs, and limiting the use of multiple appliances at the same time. As a result, our monthly electricity bill has decreased significantly.”
Not only in daily life, the energy-saving movement is also strongly implemented in agencies, units, and businesses. Many state agencies strictly implement energy-saving regulations in offices, such as turning off electrical equipment at the end of working hours, utilizing natural light, and replacing lighting systems with energy-saving lights.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the past period, the unit has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to effectively implement the National Program on energy saving and efficiency while promoting propaganda and training activities for businesses, production facilities, and people. Regular inspections and guidance of key energy-consuming facilities also contribute to increasing community awareness of energy conservation.
Many propaganda programs have been widely implemented. The annual Family Energy Saving Program attracts between 12,600 and over 18,500 customers who commit to implementing energy-saving solutions. The School Energy Saving Program has also expanded from 36 schools in 2019 to 71 schools by 2025. In addition, from 2023-2025, training courses on safe and efficient electricity use have been organized for over 1,200 participants, including youth union members, students, and neighborhood officials. Workshops on energy saving and efficiency for businesses are also regularly held, attracting hundreds of delegates each year.
In the manufacturing sector, many businesses in the province are also proactively innovating technology, replacing energy-intensive equipment with high-efficiency equipment to reduce production costs and use energy efficiently. Typically, Crystal Martin (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. in Rach Kien commune was honored to win the Special Award for national energy efficiency. The company implemented many comprehensive energy-saving solutions, such as installing rooftop solar power systems, using high-efficiency sewing machines, and LED lighting systems. These solutions not only significantly reduced electricity consumption but also contributed to promoting green production and sustainable development.
Besides businesses, many farmers in the province are also boldly applying renewable energy to agricultural production. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh (residing in Tan Hoi commune) said that his family invested in a solar power system to pump water for irrigating their cassava fields. Previously, irrigation depended on the grid or fuel pumps, resulting in high costs.
"Since installing the solar power system to run the water pump, we have electricity to irrigate our cassava fields during sunny days. Thanks to this, production costs have decreased significantly, and irrigation has become more convenient," Mr. Vinh shared.
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Lan (resident of My Thanh commune) said, "Previously, my family paid little attention to energy saving, especially when using air conditioners, but after being educated, everyone in the house has changed their habits, such as setting the air conditioner to 26°C or higher, combining it with the use of fans, and turning off the machine when not needed. Thanks to this, electricity consumption has decreased significantly while still ensuring daily life.”
According to statistics from relevant agencies, in 2025, the total amount of electricity saved in the province reached 385.455 million kWh, equivalent to 2.5% of commercial electricity, showing the clear effectiveness of the energy-saving programs implemented in the past.
Contributing to energy security
Besides economic and environmental benefits, the efficient and effective use of energy is also linked to the task of ensuring national energy security in the context of a volatile global energy market.
Given the complex developments of military conflicts in the Middle East that could impact the global energy supply chain, on March 9, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Directive No. 06 on strengthening measures to ensure energy security. According to the directive, localities must closely monitor the supply and demand of energy, especially petroleum products, and develop plans to ensure availability. The Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities must coordinate with key enterprises and petroleum distributors to ensure continuous supply to the market.
The directive also calls for better inspections and checks on gasoline and oil businesses; quickly finding and addressing issues like price gouging, stockpiling, or breaking rules in the gasoline and oil trade; and stopping gas stations from stopping sales without good reasons. Mr. Nguyen Van Tai (residing in Chau Thanh commune) expressed, "Gasoline and oil are essential commodities, so people hope that the State and relevant agencies will have solutions to stabilize prices and ensure supply so that people and businesses can feel secure in production and business.”
In response to the Earth Hour 2026 campaign, the province will organize many propaganda activities to raise community awareness about energy saving and efficient use. The "National Movement for Energy Saving and Efficiency and Participation in the Earth Hour 2026 Campaign" will take place from March 21st to April 11th, 2026, with the message "Green Innovation - Green Future".
The campaign will include various activities, such as a lights-off event in response to Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 28th, 2026; a live and online running event in support of the campaign; and an online competition to test knowledge about efficient and effective energy use.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Tran Thanh Toan, stated, "In the coming time, the Department will continue to promote awareness campaigns to improve community understanding, encourage people to use energy-saving equipment, and support businesses in technological innovation and production process improvement. Energy conservation and efficiency will be linked to the goals of reducing emissions, protecting the environment, and sustainable development.”
According to the plan for the 2026-2030 period, Tay Ninh province aims to save at least 2% of electricity consumption annually, reduce electricity loss to below 3.5%, and encourage industrial parks and clusters to adopt energy-efficient solutions.
Therefore, the Earth Hour campaign is not just about turning off lights for one hour but also a reminder to everyone about their responsibility to use energy rationally. When individuals, families, and businesses join hands to save energy, small actions will create a big ripple effect, contributing to building a green and sustainable society./.
