Tay Ninh proposes VND 2.9 trillion upgrade of route linking Tan Nam International Border Gate (Vietnamese)
According to the proposal, the project aims to complete a key transport corridor linking the Tan Nam International Border Gate area with the urban center of Tan Ninh, while also connecting with the future Go Dau – Xa Mat Expressway.
The formation of this route is expected to optimize container transport flows, reduce logistics costs, promote import–export activities, and attract transit cargo from Cambodia to seaports in the region.
Currently, the route is divided into two main sections. The Provincial Road 791 section is approximately 11 km long, stretching from the intersection near the Tan Nam International Border Gate Border Guard Station to the junction with Provincial Roads 788 and 783 (Lo Go Intersection). The road surface is 8 meters wide with a 9-meter roadbed and is paved with cement concrete. Two bridges on the route—Lo Go Bridge and Khi (Da Ha) Bridge—are currently operating stably.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Road 788 section is about 31 km long, extending from Lo Go Intersection to the junction with National Highway 22B (Vinh Intersection). The road has an 8-meter asphalt surface and a 9-meter roadbed, and was upgraded in 2014. Vinh Bridge, nearly 50 meters long, is also located along this section and remains in operation.
In response to growing infrastructure demands and increasing traffic volume in the border area, upgrading and expanding the route is considered necessary to meet transportation needs and gradually complete Tay Ninh’s transport network. The project is also consistent with the Tay Ninh Provincial Planning for the 2021–2030 period with a vision to 2050, which has been approved by the Prime Minister.
Under the proposed plan, the upgraded route will have a roadbed width of 18.5 meters, including four motor vehicle lanes, with 1-meter shoulders on each side. Existing bridges—Vinh Bridge, Lo Go Bridge, and Khi (Da Ha) Bridge—will be expanded to four lanes in accordance with planning, with a design load of HL93 under current standards. The project will also include drainage systems, lighting, and traffic safety facilities.
The project is proposed as a Group B project, with an estimated total investment of around VND 2.89 trillion, funded by a combination of central government support and the provincial budget. The project is expected to be implemented in the communes of Tan Bien, Phuoc Vinh, Hao Duoc, and Chau Thanh.
According to the plan, investment preparation will take place in 2026, with construction scheduled for the 2026–2029 period. The Tay Ninh Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board will serve as the investor, directly overseeing the project’s management and implementation.
After receiving the proposal from the Project Management Board, the Department of Finance has sought opinions from relevant departments, agencies, and local authorities regarding the project./.
